Luke and Kelsey had the most beautiful wedding at The Orchard in Azle. It was a beautiful day in July and with tons of family and friends there to support these two. I loved all the wonderful and heartfelt moments we captured for Kelsey and Luke to treasure.
I want to share how Luke proposed to Kelsey (in Kelsey’s words) because it is a really sweet story.
“For weeks leading up to the proposal, some friends and I had been planning on going to a concert in Denton. My friend Amy suggested we go as a last “hoorah” before school started back and we were all in! That day, she took me to get my nails done as a late birthday present and then we headed back to my house to get ready, where our two other friends, Mandy and Kaitlyn met us a little later. As we were in the kitchen talking after everyone arrived, Mandy said we needed to leave because we had to stop at her sister’s house in Ponder (on the way to Denton) to drop off her debit card that she had left at her parent’s house. We all piled in Mandy’s car and were on our way. As we turned onto the long gravel drive leading up to her sister’s house, Mandy kept anxiously looking at me. I also noticed two trucks parked tailgate to tailgate in the pasture that are the same colors as Luke’s trucks. As we got closer, I noticed Luke standing there waiting for the car. Confused because I thought Luke was working at a wine tasting in OKC, I could only say “excuse me?” as the car came to a stop and Luke walked up to open the door. I got out of the car as he took my hand and asked me to take a walk with him. We walked into the sunset towards a windmill wrapped bottom to top in lights with a table and a bench in front. On the table was a framed picture of us, a lantern, a bottle of wine with a custom label that said “Will you marry me?” on one side and a picture of us and the date on the other, a Bible, and a box. Luke sat me on the bench, smiles, and said “I know I’ve asked you to be patient for a long time, but I’m going to ask you to be patient for a little longer.” He read me a speech he had written up (so he wouldn’t forget), and then reached for the Bible. He revealed he had “Mr. and Mrs. Aldinger” engraved on the front and opened it up to read a verse from Phillipians. He then reached for the ring box and dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. After an ecstatic yes and a moment to react, our friends and family came down from the house to celebrate with us. As I watched the people coming down, I noticed friends from Oklahoma and Austin and our best friends from home and our families were all there. We took lots of pictures by the sunset and celebrated. We eventually moved our celebration to the “Pasture Party” set up in the trucks. The truck beds were decorated and we had lots of food and drinks and tiki torches to keep the party going. When it got dark, Luke made a champagne toast and told me there was one more surprise; a fireworks show! It was the perfect ending to a perfect proposal and I could not have dreamed of a better proposal or a bigger surprise! ”
