For me, wedding photography (well photography in general) isn’t about winning awards, it is about making people smile when they see their photos. I get no greater joy than receiving an email from a bride and groom, letting me know how much they love their photos or a family who can’t wait to print Christmas cards. It makes my day and makes what I do so worth it. I’m not one who submits to contest and my goal is not to build up awards but Fearless Photographers is one I submit my photos to on occasion because I believe in their vision and the quality of work they showcase is, imo, the very best. So when I opened my email 2 days ago and saw that one of my photos had one a Fearless Awards I literally jumped for joy. I felt so honored to be among such a talented group of wedding photographers whose work inspires me to be better every day. And I know you might be wondering what is fearless photographers. I pulled this directly from their site and you can go here to read more about them :).
“WHAT IS A “FEARLESS AWARD”?
Every 2 months, a curated competition is open for submissions from our members. Of these submissions, less than 3% are selected by a panel of curators as “Fearless Awards” – photographs that excel in redefining wedding photography”
It’s highly selective and only the best wedding photos receive a Fearless Award each round. For the most recent round, collection 22, there were 11,000 wedding photos submitted and only 240 received the Award. That is a little over 2%. So it really is the top rated wedding photos that get selected and I’m so honored to have the image below get this wedding photography award.
The image below also won an award from a previous Fearless Collection but for some reason I never posted about it on the blog. So here is that one 🙂
