I am normally someone who keeps their car in the garage during snow and ice storms and instead curl up on the couch with my dogs. I know I miss the chance for a really cool session outdoors but it never really bothered me. Well until this year. Yes the roads were covered in a thick sheet of ice but I figured if my husband can drive 30 miles to work, I can drive the 3 miles across town. So I put out several really desperate feelers on FB for a couple who was willing to go outside and take pictures. I honestly had almost given up and resigned to the fact that I wouldn’t get to. Then one of my wedding industry friends let me know she had some friends that lived really close to me and would be my models. I jumped off my couch in excitement, yep that dorky Tom Cruise jumping on the couch excitement. I’m a self-proclaimed dork and didn’t mind the dogs looking at me like I lost my mind. I wrapped myself in several layers, gloves and a scarf and slowly made the drive over to the west side of Allen. What normally would take me 3 minutes took 20 minutes but I didn’t care. And the venture out was soooo worth it. Jannie and John are super cute together and they really know how to make each other laugh. So enjoy these fun, icy photos 🙂
Yep if you are a regular follower of the blog, you know I love incorporating fur kids when I can 🙂
He is so handsome in his sweater!!!!
I posted a sneak peek on our FB page and a couple of Jannie’s friends didn’t quite understand why the mug had a D on it. Jannie explained the significance and it was so sweet. Here is what she said. “We didn’t have any Christmas mugs so we pulled our mugs from Anthropology. John gave me a mug with a “D” on it when he asked me to be his girlfriend…. long story short but his mom had referred to me as his ‘girlfrien’ when we were dating, so he made our relationship official the day he gave me the D (to fully spell out the word ‘girlfriend’) lol”
I didn’t want them walking too far and falling on the ice. So I saw their alley way and thought it made a cool, unique backdrop. Now I know it might seem a bit strange why I thought it was cool but hear me out. The fences help lead your eye back into the image and add this dimension to the photo and at the same time they help to frame John and Jannie in the image. They also help out this repetition and sense of symmetry so it is pleasing to the eye.
I would like to give a big THANKS to John and Jannie for being my models and braving the cold for me. You two rock!!!!!!!
