By the title, you might be a little curious why I am blogging about my coffee mug and why I am choosing to refer to it as imperfect. I’m choosing to write this blog post because I want to inspire and share a little insight as to who I am and what I value. I love imperfection!!! I really do and I find things that are perfect to be boring. I have perfectly designed cups from Crate and Barrel and they get used but I don’t really care if they accidently get dropped and broken. They can easily be replaced but another replica, there is nothing unique about them. Then I have my favorite coffee mug, it is a little wobbling, its rough around the edges, and it isn’t a perfect circle. I love it because a friend of mine made it and put his energy into making it. It has a human quality to it that cannot be replicated with any machine; it has a character and a realness about it. My husband loves it too and we fight over it, seriously which ever one of us makes coffee in the morning gets to use it.
I bring this up because it is a great reminder that life is imperfect, we as people have flaws. But it is what makes us who we are and makes us special. I wouldn’t want to be a cookie cutter version of another person, I enjoy being unique and being flawed. And I don’t often bring up my faith but yes in God’s eyes I know I am his perfect creation and he loves me, just in the same way I love this mug. He constantly helps me to be a better person but I will never be perfect. I refuse in life though, to go around walking on eggshells and not be me. We all need to feel like we can be our real and be who we are without judgement. Those who love you, won’t see the flaws, they will just know how much they love having you around. They will love how you make them feel :).
