I’m a huge sucker for beautiful lighting and really playing with light in my wedding photography so I can create the best possible image for my couples. Sometimes it is really soft lighting and other times, I want to play up the drama. The one thing that remains constant, is that emotional connection to the photograph. I want the love between to people to be felt and I personally feel this image does exactly that. I took this in the Dallas Arts District and used back lighting to really create this dramatic shot. It was done with natural light which means no flash was used. This was also a very shy couple but they trusted me and my vision. I sooooo love that my couples trust me 110% and will go with any crazy idea I throw at them. It allows me to create images like the one below.
I loved this image so much that I submitted it to the Fearless Awards, it’s the only photography contest I enter. I was so honored it was selected, and it’s a huge honor. I really feel those photos that win a Fearless Award are the best of the best!!!! It’s not a popularity contest and it is judged solely on the quality of the image. This is my third time to win a Fearless Award and I think I get more excited with each win. That is partly because with each Fearless Collection, the images submitted are better and better, which means it is harder and harder to make an image that will stand out. In Collection 25 of the Fearless Awards, over 10,000 images were submitted and less than 200 were declared Fearless. So you can see how special it is to have an award winning image.
