James contacted me a couple of days before he planned to propose to Chelsea, to come out and secretly capture these moments for the two of them.  He planned to propose at the house that Chelsea lived at with they first started dating, and Chelsea’s sister is currently living.  I made sure to arrive extra early so I could find a good hiding spot.  When I pulled up, I saw the neighbor across the street was out working on his car and asked if I could use his car to hide.  I saw them drive up and started snapping away as I slowly inched closer. I didn’t want to give my presence away, but wanted to be able to get the moment and emotion emotion too.  Once James got down on one knee and pulled the ring out, I was able to make my way across the street. I knew at this point Chelsea would be so caught up in the moment that she wouldn’t even notice me. After she said yes, we took a few portraits around the house and then headed over to the Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum, where James and Chelsea’s families were waiting to celebrate their “surprise” engagement. I made sure that I was all set before James and Chelsea walked into their engagement party so I could get all the emotions of seeing these two get hugs of happiness and support. Being able to capture memories like this is why I truly LOVE this job. I really love love, if that makes  sense 🙂  And of course we took a few more portraits around the Pecan Lodge. It was such an intimate get together and James and Chelsea have the sweetest and most loving families.
