Every January, when wedding season is on hiatus, I like to set up personal projects and do something new and different. I actually started in photography photographing dancers and it was my very first long term project. I spent several months where I photographed dancers. I followed them to their rehearsals, did studio work with them and even photographed their performances. I had a blast taking those and even had the dance to photograph a little kids recital from doing that work. I was so fanscinated with the art of dancing that I would attend different dance festivals so I could photograph them. Then the semester ended and I moved on to different projects. So when it came time to figure out what personal project I wanted to do this year, I started looking through photographs that I had done. And before me, was my old portfolio of dance images. I set forth, and began brainstorming what I could do. I then thought about bringing dancers into nature and the city, two things I also really love. But oh man, where would I find dancers. I googled dallas ballet companies and found this really neat one and they were totally on board with my ideas and the date was set.
To say, I’m so excited to share these is an understatement!!!!! But, if you follow us on FB you have already seen a couple of sneak peeks of my photo shoot with Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet Company. Well now you can get see some of the rest 🙂 Enjoy!!!
I really loved getting to photograph these talented dancers. They are so friendly; they are a close-knit family and they are so supportive of each other and so giving. Seriously check out this ballet company and I encourage you to attend one of their performances (if not more). I think they have one in March. I know I will be there 🙂
There is a 2nd part to this ballet shoot that I will post next week 🙂
