I met up with Heather and Valerie the day after Christmas to take their engagement photos in Dallas. I was super excited because I’ve known Valerie for over 10 years and she played model for me when I was first starting out in weddings. So I was really glad to give her a call and take these for her and Heather. I’ve had this crazy notion of taking engagement photos in a parking garage for quite some time. I was just super busy with wedding season and didn’t have any time to make it happen. Luckily Valerie and Heather were totally down and went for my crazy vision. Not only were they awesome and did everything I asked of them, they were troopers with the weather too. Yep that was the day we had crazy tornadoes east of Dallas. We hunkered down in a local burger joint and enjoyed cheese fries and beer. That’s always good hahaha. Also, I loved getting to catch up and hear how Heather proposed while on a family trip and seeing photos.
Once the weather cleared, we finished their session at the Highland Park Shopping Village. I really wanted to utilize all the christmas lights in a unique and creative way. Plus, night photography can be a challenge and made me push myself further.
I played around with the double exposure feature my camera has, it took me back to the days of film and using the Holga.
I really love the power of the image above!!!!
I mean how cool are these lights!!!!
