Road Trip to Big Bend and the Texas Hill Country | Dallas Photographers

Dallas Wedding Photographers - K & S Photography

My husband and I hit the open road about 10 days ago to West Texas to see Big Bend.  I didn’t have any weddings that weekend, one of my few weekends off, so we said ROAD TRIP!!!!!!  Some parts of the drive were so pretty and well some parts I was bored beyond belief but once we arrived at Alpine/Marfa area, it was totally worth it.

One of the amazing parts was watching sunset over the vast openness that is West Texas.  The yellow haze of the sky is truly breathtaking and I was in total awe.  I made my husband pull over so I could get my camera to take some photos.  I mean as a photographer how could I not take these.

The next day, we headed out to Big Bend, where we did some hiking along the Rio Grande River.  So one side was the United States and the other side was Mexico.  As we hiked through this area, we kept stopping to admire the beauty (I refuse to admit that we were actually out of breath from going up the mountain), and it was surreal.  I think we saw the most gorgeous light and we stopped to take a selfie (yikes can’t believe I’m saying selfie).  We couldn’t resist taking a photo here.  It wasn’t easy setting up my timer and running down a rock, through mud, back up a rock and then trying to look pretty.  I think we managed to get 2 out of 30 that worked.  My husband was reallllyyyyy over it after take 20.  But after he saw those 2 photos, he understood 🙂

While checking out the Marfa lights (yes we did see a very strange light), we met a very sweet couple that gave us some awesome travel advice.  They let us know that traveling back home through Kerville, would be wayyyy more scenic.  And it so was!!!! We came across the most amazing view of the Pecos River and sat up on rock looking down the vastness of it all.  It really felt very peaceful taking it such beauty.

We arrived in Kerville about an hour before sunset and I was determined to find something cool to photograph.  And really what is more Texan than a cowboy boot on a wooden fence with bluebonnets.
