New Orleans Street Photography Part 4

New Orleans Street Photography Part 4

This is my 4th and final post about New Orleans. Kinda bittersweet as I have loved sharing these images with you.  The focus of this blog is the street performers of the French Quarter.  I love watching street performers and I think they breath life into a city, plus some are extremely talented.

So here is part 2 my New Orleans Trip.  I won’t be so wordy this time :)  Oh and if you are interested in any of these pictures, I do have them online and available for purchase, click here

I always love listening to the violin and these 2 were chalked full of talent.  They played Let It Be and that is one of my all time favorite songs so I had to listen and I was almost in tears it was that good.

There was a group of break dancers and we stopped to watch them.  This one was a ham and was getting everyone to stop and come watch.  He really hammed it up for my camera so just know he wasn’t angry at all, just making faces :)

These guys were amazing to listen to.  Their band name is Steamboat Willie.  Plus they were super nice.  Ray left his phone at the table and they picked it up and called us.

Street Photography in New Orleans Part 1

This past weekend my husband and I took a trip to New Orleans for the weekend and had a blast and wished we could have stayed longer.  There is just the vibe there we don’t have back in Dallas.  It’s cool, relaxed, and fun.  We had no plans, no schedule and it was awesome (well we did actually have our hotel booked before we went).  I did take my camera (I mean how could I not) so I could do some street photography.  I could have spent weeks just walking the French Quarter taking pictures and never get bored.  I took so many pictures I’m breaking it up into 3 or 4 blog posts.  This one will feature street photography with people, the real life of New Orleans. The 2nd blog post will focus on the building and architecture of New Orleans. I’m still deciding what the focus will be for the other posts, one for sure will be nightlife (that’s a must).  So enjoy the pictures :)

I can’t begin to share with you how inspiring the city of New Orleans is (if you’ve been there you know).  I feel like my creative juices have been recharged and I’m so ready for wedding season to begin :)

A impromptu purchase is the inspiration for this shoot.  I decided that I needed to new strobes (studio lights) and 2 huge softboxes.  I know me and when I first try out equipment, I like to test it out so I get used to it.  Also I can be a bit spazzy when testing things out and I certainly would never want the first time I pull the lights out to be during an important session like a bridal session.  I asked on Facebook who was free to model and Katy won out.  It really had more to do with her being available during the week but she’s gorgeous and I’m so glad she volunteered.   Oh boy and am I so glad that she was super patience. My battery pack died (even though it had been plugged into the wall for days) and I had no way of getting a new one for the shoot.  I figured oh well, we can go to a local park and use a plug at one of the concession stands, um yeah so when did parks stop have plugs (I remember as a kid they did).  We finally decided to just go back to my house and use our jungle of a backyard and the greenbelt behind our fence.  I say we because I made my lovely husband Ray assist me.  And magic happened.  We saw a shopping cart and pulled that into our shoot and I love our crazy brush as a backdrop.  I have to say I really love the lighting in these, let me know what you think, do you like the look?
