I’m so excited to share this super fun day after session.  I have always been a huge fan of the 50′s diner with the checkered floor, jukeboxes and swivel stools that let you twirl around and order a yummy milkshake.   So when Meredith wanted to take pictures at Steak and Shake, I was beyond ecstatic and loved the idea immediately.  I knew from the get go this would be one of my favorite day after sessions and it didn’t disappoint.  And of course being at Steak and Shake we had to incorporate milkshakes into the photos.   Also I’m super excited because this session is featured on the Style Me Pretty Texas blog, click here to see more pictures from this session. To all my blog readers, I know I have only posted a sneak peak of Meredith and Josh’s wedding pictures but I will do a full blog post soon.  But for now, here is a link back to their wedding pictures.

I’ve been meaning to write this blog post for a long time now about day after sessions, as I truly feel these are a must for couples.  Your wedding day can be so rushed to get all the formal pictures you want with your family that has flown in, that it doesn’t leave much time for pictures with each other (which are just as important).  Of course we will get great pictures of the both of you on wedding day, but let’s be honest, it’s still a bit stressful, especially knowing you have a room full of people waiting for you.   This is why I recommend doing a day after session. It doesn’t have to be the day after your wedding but maybe a couple of weeks afterwards.

Brides – you get to get all dolled up again – without it being stressful and getting nervous – and see your man in his suit or tux again.  Then you get beautiful pictures taken of the both of you, without the stress, without  everyone watching, and its a moment for you two to kinda relive your wedding day.  Basically, it boils down to both of you are relaxed and happy (no worries of dirtying the dress before the wedding) and it truly shows on camera.     So if you don’t have a day after session scheduled, do it.  I promise you won’t regret it and you will end up with beautiful and amazing pictures to hang in your home.  Just take a look at just a sampling of the day after sessions we have done to see what I mean.

I wanted to share a few more pictures from Sergio and Lacey’s Day After Session that were taken by my husband, Ray.  Sergio and Lacey were awesome to work with and didn’t mind at all that he was shooting along side me. I drag him, I mean he has the pleasure, of assisting me during most of my portrait sessions. Don’t worry I feed him afterwards and he is always happy , but for this one he wanted to try his hand at taking pictures.  I wanted to throw a few up here on the blog and see what you think (I think he did pretty good)

We had so many amazing couples in 2010 and Anthony and Kelly are no exception, its why we love being wedding photographers.

We meet up for their Day After Session in January, it was a little chilly but our brides are troopers.  We met up at Adriatica in McKinney for their Day After session, they loved it so much after we took their engagement pictures that they wanted to go back. There were no objections from me as I LOVE Adriatica!!!  I promise I will be posting their wedding that was at the Grand Hotel in McKinney soon.  I will be blogging our full weddings from the second half of 2010 over the next month.   But for now enjoy their fun day after session.

I love how Anthony just lights up whenever he looks at Kelly. These two are absolutly perfect together.

We then headed over to Downtown McKinney for some pictures and stopped off at Gather and they were nice enough to let us photograph inside.  It is such a gorgeous venue and perfect for a rehearsal dinner or small wedding.

I really think Day After sessions are a must for any bride and groom.  You are much more relaxed and they are just fun sessions and the pictures are always amazing.  The stress of the wedding day is gone and the focus is just on the two of you. If you haven’t considered it, I highly recommend them.

I meet up with Sergio and Lacey in Downtown Dallas for their Day After Session in December.  It was a bit chilly that day and Lacey was such a trooper and totally rocked this session.  Lacey totally put the session in my hands and let me pick the location so Downtown Dallas it was. I love the city vibe and the colors.  Plus it would allow for a very fun, modern session.  I love it when couples trust me and let me run rampant with my vision.  Plus I thought the city vibe worked really well with Lacey’s stunning dress from Circle Park Bridal (my favorite bridal boutique)

In other words, this wedding photographer had a ton of fun photographing this day after session.  I know Lacey and Sergio had a ton of fun as well.  Here is an email I received from Lacey (I love getting emails like this)

Hi Shauna,

Oh. My. Gosh.  I absolutely LOVE them.  I know I always sing your praises and tell you how much I love your work, but seriously, you have outdone yourself.  What a BRILLIANT idea to do the session in downtown Dallas!   I am so glad we did a day after session.  So glad.  I honestly don’t know what else I can say to communicate how absolutely amazing I think they are.  I love the buildings in the background.  I love all the different colors.  I love the black and white photos.  I LOVE the necklace – I think of it often, ha.  I love the way you “staged” us.  They have such a modern feel to them.  I love it.  I will have these pictures forever.  A forever memory stopped in time.  I can always look at these pictures and remember our wedding experience.  Tear!

The image below of Sergio and Lacey in front of the Neiman Marcus mannequin is probably my favorite for their session. Love it!!!

Lacey’s main wedding color was purple so when we came across these large purple circles in Downtown Dallas, of course we had to snap some pictures.
