Chelsea and Chris recently celebrated their 1 year wedding anniversary on March 12 and wanted to celebrate their first year with the coolest, funnest (is that a word) photo shoot.  Of course I was totally game.  We bounced a few ideas around and came up with a photo-shoot in the arts district in downtown Dallas.  You know I love anything city  The day was perfect and we had a blast taking these pictures.  Plus Chelsea is drop dead gorgeous (I know Chris agrees).  I won’t talk on any longer so you can enjoy the pictures

I’ve been dying to blog these photos, but I knew I wanted to get these photos published on a wedding blog. I know most of you reading this are probably thinking, why do you have to wait.  Well most wedding blogs want to be the first one to publish a particular shoot/wedding.  They are in the business of showing the unique sessions and they want to be the first ones to put images up.  Ok I’m hoping I’m making sense here.  So Wedding Wire published this shoot on their blog, YAY!!!!!  (click here to view).  So with that said, I can discuss how this shoot came to be.  I photographed a wedding that Rachel of Rachel Events was the coordinator for (shout out to Laura, love ya sweetie).  I knew through Facebook that Rachel was recently engaged herself.  So what do girls do, OMG let me see the ring and we chatted for just a few minutes while guest were enjoying dinner (no one wants pictures of them stuffing their face, right).  She talked about wanting to do a theme shoot for an engagement session and I was so down and told her that I would photograph it for her.  At first, the shoot was going to be in the oil derricks in Oklahoma.  Then when Rachel and I met for lunch to discuss the shoot, she let me know she wanted more of English Victorian feel with a mirrored walk way, a huge birdcage, lots of deep red arrangements.  Something very different.  I was so down for that.  So Bryna with Dr Delphinium, Heidi with Sugar Bee Sweets, and Nicole with Left-Handed Calligrapher got pulled in to help create this Victorian masterpiece.  OMG and did they floor me with their brilliance and creativity.  So the day before the shoot and the morning of the shoot, I saw it pouring rain. I was like really, we haven’t had rain for months and today of all days.  But somehow the rain stopped for the 2-3 hours of our shoot, we were so lucky.  And I have to say the gray, muddy, murky day kinda added to that English Victorian feel. It helped give that darker feel to the shoot that we wanted.  Rachel, OMG, Rachel was such a trooper, she stomped through the mud and did whatever was need to get “The Shot.”  The bottom of her gorgeous white dress was covered in mud by the end but she laughed it off in true Rachel style. Oh and Matt was awesome and he and Rachel are perfect for each other.  Whew Ok with all that said, here are the gorgeous pictures

When Randi contacted me to do a Trash the Dress session with her and Eric I was super excited.  We planned the session on 10/10 so it would be on their 1 year wedding anniversary, so sweet right.  We had a few ideas in mind and then decided on the Texas State Fair.  Ok this got me totally stoked.  It’s like a wedding photographers dream to bring a couple in their wedding attire to the fair and get some super cool, fun shots.  And you know I’m all about the fun wedding portraits =)  I wanted to share a few sneak peeks with you.

They also brought the top of their wedding cake, and totally went for it and smashed it into teachother’s faces

Let me just start out saying, I love love love these pictures!!!! I had such a hard time narrowing down which ones to post on the blog.  If I had it my way, this post would have 100 images.  I just loved working with these two as they are so much fun and Philip loves to make Amy laugh. If you saw the wedding pictures from Philip and Amy’s wedding (if you didn’t click here to see them) you may recognize some of the pictures.  This session was actually done a few weeks before their wedding.  Amy let me know that for her culture, its tradition to take pictures in your wedding attire  so they can then be displayed at the wedding.  The theme for their wedding was movies, so we focused on getting some really cinematic images along with the fun, goofy ones that really show of their personalities.  Philip was nervous getting his picture taken but I think he did an amazing job and I love the pictures where he makes Amy laugh as their personalities shine through and those are my favorite images to capture.

We started their session at the W Hotel in Dallas since that is where their wedding was being held.  Words cannot describe how amazing the W Hotel is to take pictures at plush I had a gorgeous bride and handsome groom to work with.  I was one happy wedding photographer I mean just look at the amazing chandeliers, they are to die for!!!!

Amy is beyond stunning here. LOVE IT!!!!!

We actually had to spread their session out over two days because of bad weather and crazy thunderstorms.  When back up a week later, we took pictures at Fountain Place in downtown Dallas and then moved on to some pretty sunset pictures at the Southside on Lamar.

These two pictures below have to be two of my very favorite images from this session.  I love capturing a couple’s personality on camera.

These were taken towards the end of the session and I love how they just let loose and had fun with it!!!
