Thinking of My Time in College

It’s hard to think that its been 7 years since I graduated college, time as just flown by.  I think back of the time I had in college, and I can say without a doubt that I had a blast!!!!  There are times that I really do miss being in college. It was a time that I really just focused on my photography.  I shot entirely with film then, which saddens me to say I haven’t shot any film since 2006.  I miss the darkroom, I miss seeing the image appear before my eyes, I miss being able to actually seeing my images printed on paper.  I also miss how close I was to my fellow photography majors.  I loved how we turned to each other for ideas, we pushed each other to be better.  I am so grateful for that time in my life and I miss these girls dearly and I owe them so much.  I truly don’t think I would be where I am today without them.  So a HUGE THANK YOU to Diane, Elizabeth, Danielle, Angelita, Katie, Kelly, Christine, Julie, and Karey (of course);  I’m pretty sure I’m missing someone and so sorry if I have.  You girls are amazing!!!!  Then of course there are the other art majors (ie non-photography) majors I own a great deal too and there are so many of you that I don’t even know where to start.  I loved being a part of the art community at Texas Woman’s University.  I was only there for a couple of years but that time will stay with me for a lifetime.

With all of this said, I wanted to share some photographs I took in 2003/2004 time frame.  And a special thanks to Andrea who was my muse for these.  The series is titled Lost In a Dream.

Homemade Frappuccino Goes Awry

In an effort to save a few bucks, I decided that instead of heading over to the nearest Starbucks to get a tall, non-fat , no whip, Mocha Frappuccino that I would just make my own.  Ummm can I just say that it was a complete and utter failure.  I put way to much liquid and ice into my blender so my ever so wonderful creation ended up all over the counter and dripping down to the floor.  That was my first mistake.   If I worked for Starbucks, I would so be fired. Not only did I make a not so good drink but I made the biggest mess in my kitchen.  2nd mistake was using coffee instead of espresso, so it was super weak. Third I didn’t add any sugar so it was pretty gross when I took my first drink. .  When my husband got home and I told him what I did, he just looked at me and shook his head and walked away.  He was relived though to see I had cleaned up my mess :)  I should probably Google a recipe for frappuccinos if I try this again.

New York City Street Photography circa 2006

I wanted to share something a bit different.  I’ve always been a huge fan of street photography and the hustle and bustle of the city, the architecture, the people, the lights, etc has always fascinated and inspired me.  I took these images in 2006 in New York City.  I was still mostly shooting film at this time so all of these images were shot on film.   These are images I shot for me which I honestly haven’t done in a long time.  My plan is to set aside some time once a week to just go take pictures for me. To experiment, to play around, to have some “me” time so expect to see a lot more personal photos on here as well as photos of our fabulous, fun weddings and portraits.  I plan on dabbling a lot more into street photography and would love your feedback, your thoughts, or just anything you want to share.  If you are a photographer reading this, I urge you to take some time out to do a personal project.  It’s so important to photograph for yourself as well.  Send me the links to your pictures and we can go on this journey together :)

Richard and Anna’s Wedding at Watermark Community Church | Dallas Wedding Photography

Richard and Anna's Wedding at Watermark Community Church | Dallas Wedding Photographers

Richard and Anna tied the knot on Saturday at the Watermark Community Church in Dallas. It is such a gorgeous church for a wedding and perfect for  photography with the large windows that let in all this pretty light. I just LOVED it!!!!  Her wedding colors of yellows and greens made for a fun summer wedding and I just love those two colors together.

Richard and Anna met about a  year ago while they went out to lunch after church.   They ended up talking and before long they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.  And if you met these two, you can instantly see how perfect they are for each other.  I loved seeing how excited Richard’s mom and sister were to have Anna join their family, as Anna is the sweetest, kindest person and they just adore her.

Anna has the most amazing bridesmaids who made this scrapbook for her of the fun times they have had.  What I find really cool is Anna and her 4 bridesmaids are all teachers and all but one went to UNT. So I’m sure the scrapbook brought back lots of good memories for Anna and was such a sweet gift for Anna.

And it did bring tears to her eyes.

This was such a sweet moment. Anna’s dad was seeing her for the first time, right before he walked her down the aisle.  He didn’t want to see her until that moment.  He didn’t even look at her bridal pictures (which you can click here to see)

I thought this was so special, they did a stuffed animal toss for the kids.  And actually the one who caught it was so sweet and gave it to the little ones to play with.

These groomsmen had me rolling. They did the Stinky Leg (I believe that’s the name) dance and I had never heard of it but OMG its hilarious.  The bridesmaids even joined them on the dance floor.
