I’m finally posting Rob and Alisha’s wedding. They had their wedding at the Grand Hotel in McKinney. It is such an amazing space and a dream place for a wedding. It used to be the McKinney Opera House that is now converted into a hotel and gorgeous ballroom. It’s really stunning and one of my favorite places to photograph at.
Well for this blog I’m letting Rob and Alisha tell their story so I hope you enjoy the q&a. Also they have so many great details and moments that this blog contains a ton of pictures. So enjoy the pictures and Rob and Alisha’s story.
How did the two of you meet?
Rob and I met at work and became fast friends, which has and will always be the foundation of our relationship. We dated for nearly 5 years before tying the knot!

How did Rob propose?
Rob and his son, Carson, both proposed during a hot air balloon ride over McKinney in April 2009. It was a glorious moment at 3,000 ft that was luckily captured on video by our friend navigating the balloon.

How did you decide on your wedding colors?
Since we decided on a winter wedding with only about 3 months to plan, we had to make decisions quickly. We wanted to keep Christmas separate, since the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ is so important to us both, so we avoided red and gold. Our favorite color is royal blue so we incorporated that in with ice blue, chocolate brown and silver accents to complete our whimsical winter wonderland.
Did you have a design inspiration for your wedding?
Elegant, intimate and merry.
How did you incorporate your personalities into your wedding?
Everything about our wedding was designed to be fun, while showcasing our personal style. There was even a rubber chicken dressed in a tux! From the color palette including royal blue and lime green flowers and the root beer float station instead of a groom’s cake to the last minute planning and intimate size of our wedding party, it represented us as a couple through and through. Our first dance was also the perfect opportunity to infuse our personalities into an unforgettable moment introducing our new couple status which, for the guests, was upbeat and unexpected.
What advice do you have for brides?
Enjoy it! It is easy to get caught up in the planning process and worked up over the small details that can go awry, but in the end, it will all work out, even if the flutterfetti sticks you wanted are multi-color instead of white.
Identify the few things that are a priority for you as a couple and just let the rest of the details fall into place. The most important thing is uniting as husband and wife in the eyes of your loved ones and the Lord…the rest is just icing on the cake!
Stay tuned for Rob and Alisha’s Day After Session.
